Will you make a donation to our school/organization fundraiser?
As you can imagine, we get many requests like this. At this time, we are not able to accommodate discounts or donations to fundraisers for community organizations. We have had other groups purchase Rabbit hOle merch to include in baskets for raffle items, and some groups plan to purchase a gift membership or a set of tickets for a raffle. You would certainly be welcome to participate that way. We really appreciate you thinking about including us, and we're sorry that we get too many requests like this to fulfill them all.

What programs will you offer?
The Rabbit hOle has many programming areas for children, families and adults. These include our print shop and story lab, a resource library, our full-service bookstore, and our maker space. Within these spaces you will be able to participate in book making workshops, writing labs, story times, baby music time, book clubs, professional opportunities for educators, exhibit-related presentations and performances, national and local author events, and a multitude of literature-based activities for children and adults.
What is the cost of admission?
Admission to The Rabbit hOle is $16 per person. Children under two are free.
Do you offer memberships?
The Rabbit hOle offers a variety of membership packages. Learn more here.
Are donors automatic members?
Donations and memberships are separate. You will need to purchase your membership annually.
How long are memberships valid?
Your membership is valid for one year from the purchase date. So if you buy your membership on November 1, 2023 it will expire November 1, 2024.
Do you have any discounts for those with financial need?
The Rabbit hOle participates in Museums for All, a national IMLS program that offers discounted admissions to qualifying families. The Museums for All Membership package is available for $25 for a family of four or $3 admission per guest.
Will you offer military and veteran discounts?
Active Duty military members and veterans receive a discount admission of $13.50 with proper ID at the front desk.
Who is eligible for an Educator Membership?
Librarians, teachers, and school administrators are eligible. This membership is also open to those who have retired from these roles.
Who can be included in a Family Membership?
You may define your family however you would like. So for example it could include you, your child and two grandparents. When you purchase your year-long family membership you will list the names of who is included on the membership.
Are memberships tax-deductible?
Yes. All Rabbit hOle memberships are 100% tax-deductible.
How does scheduling a gift membership work?
A gift membership can be scheduled for any date in the future, but the recipient will not have access to any membership benefits until the receipt of their gift. Memberships will begin on the date of the gift delivery.
Reciprocal Admission:
We are exploring reciprocity programs and other museum collaborations, but currently do not take part in any reciprocal museum membership programs.
Do I have to buy tickets in advance?
We offer some tickets at the door as well as our online timed tickets. We highly encourage purchasing tickets in advance to ensure prompt entry into the museum.
I have tickets for a certain time, but I will be late or early. Is that okay?
We can typically accommodate timed tickets at most points throughout the day. We ask that when possible you arrive within thirty minutes of your ticket time, but will do our best to accommodate all ticketed guests as quickly as possible.
I have tickets for a certain date, but can't make it. Can I exchange tickets for another day?
Please send us an email at least 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule your tickets and provide your preferred date and time, and we will do our best to reschedule your tickets.

May I come to The Rabbit hOle without a child?
Yes. However, you will be required to wear a wristband indicating you are an unattended adult. We define an adult as 18+ years of age.
Does The Rabbit hOle have a cafe?
Yes, Max's Kansas City is now open. See hours and menu here. Outside food and drinks are not permitted in the museum, and any purchased food and drink must stay in the cafe area.
Are photos allowed in the museum?
Visitors to The Rabbit hOle are permitted to take photographs and shoot videos for personal use, except in specific exhibits where photography is not permitted. Professional photographers must arrange prior approval for all editorial and commercial photography, filming or videotaping at The Rabbit hOle. Are strollers allowed in the museum?
Strollers are not permitted in the museum. Please read our visitor policies here.
Is The Rabbit hOle accessible?
Yes. The Rabbit hOle has elevators, rampways, and ADA exits and entrances.
How long does it take to go through the museum?
An average visit to the museum lasts for around ninety minutes, but can vary greatly depending on your group. Please plan for at least an hour to enjoy the full experience.
What age(s) is The Rabbit hOle appropriate for?
From infants to those over 100 years old, we have watched all ages experience and enjoy The Rabbit hOle. We believe that children's literature should be respected and celebrated by everyone. Even if it's been years since you or your family has picked up a picture book, the artistry and design of our exhibits inspire curiosity about how to capture the spirit of a book and its creators. Please note that all visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Can I purchase tickets at the door?
We reserve a small amount of tickets for walk-ups, but encourage everyone to purchase their timed tickets in advance online. This helps us manage the flow of people and ensures your access to the museum in the event that tickets sell out.
I've purchased a timed ticket. How close to the stated time should I arrive?
Please make an effort to arrive as close to your ticketed time as possible. We will honor your ticket for 30 minutes before or after the stated time. Beyond that we will do our best to accommodate you, but cannot guarantee admission.
Can I visit The Rabbit hOle's bookstore and cafe without a ticket to the museum?
Yes! Lucky Rabbit Books share the same hours as the museum. Hours vary for our cafe, Max's Kansas City. See the menu and weekly schedule here.
How should I interact with exhibits in the museum?
Everything you see in the museum was created by our in-house team of artists and fabricators. We ask that you be kind to what we've built. If something is meant to be climbed, there will be a ladder or steps. All visitors must abide by our Museum Code of Conduct, or they will be required to leave. Can I bring my classroom on a field trip?
We look forward to welcoming school groups to The Rabbit hOle early in 2025. Field trip opportunities will begin in the spring of 2025. More information about these opportunities will be forthcoming.
